Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities entailing a whole new specialization in the “Application of Scientific Knowledge,” which diverges slightly from fundamental aspects of science and management, thereby providing students with an education based on the latest technological advancements. The department believes and booms on the credence of uplifting the engineering students in their hunt of gaining technical familiarity by providing the fundamental knowledge and assisting other technical departments in attaining their objective.
In Applied Science, the tools, techniques, and understanding involves a broad perspective of solving complex technical and scientific problems, which will help students to face practical challenges. Applied Physics – an essential requirement to all technocrats – plays a pivotal role in giving the fundamental understanding of engineering principles. The department claims to prepare all engineering discipline students of first-year through a well-equipped laboratory, towards their quest to be a future engineer.
Mathematics is an integral, indispensable part of engineering. It is a requisite associated with problem-solving techniques in engineering. Technological confidence and imparting technical knowledge of Applied Mathematics to students has been at the forefront with a highly qualified and competent staff of the department.
The fast-changing era had made it essential for engineers to possess strong communication skills, both in terms of personal communication and technical communication. The department teaches students practical communication skills, technical communication, and technical writing. The language laboratory serves as an asset as it provides the necessary infrastructure for students to receive training in both written and oral communication, nourishing them, in due course, developing confidence. The department has also initiated a Centre for Language Proficiency and Professional Enlightenment, which caters to developing English language proficiency and preparing students for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
With current developments in our country, wherein now startups and business models are taking the forefront, a sound knowledge of economics and management is crucial to success. The success of an engineer is critically dependent on the know-how of the economy and the ability to manage in difficult times. The Management section of the department looks after imparting the terminologies of economics and management. Analytical thinking, critical understanding, and developing conceptual skills in engineers is the major outcome expected.
Working on the overall perceptions of ornamental critical thinking, as well as creating the power to analyze and change information into knowledge, the department focuses on extra-curricular activities along with the university curriculum, eventually developing a pool of multi-talented, multifaceted technocrats.
